What are dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers are injections of hyaluronic acid (a substance that occurs naturally in our bodies). They are primarily used to add volume to sunken areas, remove deep lines and hydrate your skin.

For example, we can use facial fillers to improve these common problem areas :

• Smokers’ lines/perioral lines
• Oral commissures
• Marionette lines
• Nasolabial folds
• Sunken under-eyes and cheeks

While mainly used to rejuvenate your face, they can also improve the skin on your hands and reduce the appearance of indented scars.

What is dermal filler treatment like?

Your treatment will be carried out in the comfort of one of our Huntingdon treatment rooms.

Before your treatment, your practitioner will discuss your medical history and the outcome you’re hoping for. This ensures that fillers are a safe and appropriate treatment for you.

Facial filler injections will take between 20 and 30 minutes, depending on the area/s to be treated. The filler includes a local anaesthetic to minimise any discomfort during the treatment.

You’ll see the benefits of your treatment straight away, although there may be a little swelling which can take a few days to subside and reveal the final results.

After your filler treatment you can go about your day as normal ; your practitioner will talk you through any aftercare requirements. The area/s treated may feel a little sore for a couple of days and occasionally there’s a small amount of bruising at the injection points.

Your fillers will last for six to twelve months. If you’re not delighted with your results, then your practitioner will make any necessary adjustments. This can include dissolving some or all of the filler, if required.
