We explain the differences between these rejuvenating treatments.
Profhilo – a revolution in preventative aesthetics
Profhilo is a very popular treatment for patients who want to reduce the appearance of ageing and restore youthful radiance.
However, more and more practitioners and patients are recognising that Profhilo represents a shift in aesthetic practice.
As well as fixing a skin issue, such as general slackness or a particular fold or wrinkle, Profhilo can prevent it from developing in the first place – it’s an exciting direction for aesthetics.
Delaying the signs of ageing
Profhilo is a revolutionary moisturising treatment, which hydrates and lifts the skin.
As we age, our skin can start to sag and lose its youthful fullness. When someone first shows signs of skin laxity, Profhilo can delay the effects of the ageing process.
Profhilo works beneath the skin to deeply moisturise and therefore lift the skin to reduce these first signs of ageing.
What is Profhilo?
Profhilo is a unique, injectable hyaluronic acid gel.
Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring chemical that the body uses to retain water in the skin and support collagen and elastin, which have a plumping effect in the skin.
Profhilo provides one of the highest concentrations of hyaluronic acid available on the market.
How does Profhilo work?
Profhilo has a prolonged, stimulating effect on the dermal cells. It is delivered into the skin via a series of small injections.
Profhilo integrates with the skin to trigger the patient’s own, natural, anti-ageing processes. In addition, Profhilo does not contain synthetic additives. Profhilo stimulates the cell receptors to counteract slackness and promote firmness.
The result is skin that feels hydrated, lifted and tightened.
Treatment with Profhilo when a patient first starts to experience skin laxity can tackle the issue early on, to significantly delay the signs of ageing.
Which areas of the skin can be treated with Profhilo?
Profhilo can be used on the face, particularly the cheeks where laxity can have a more noticeable impact. It can also be used on the neck, décolletage, chest, stomach, inner arms, hands and knees.
Profhilo is particularly effective at improving the overall radiance of the skin.
What can I expect from treatment with Profhilo?
Patients new to Profhilo usually require two treatments, four weeks apart for the best results.
Patients tend to feel an immediate improvement thanks to the hydrating effect of Profhilo, but, as it encourages the body to produce its own anti-ageing collagen and elastin, it can take a few weeks before the full benefits of treatment are apparent.
After a month, patients can expect their skin to feel smoother, softer, tighter and plumper. At this point the second treatment fully stimulates the collagen and elastin production for optimal results.
How often is Profhilo treatment recommended?
Profhilo continues to work in the skin for around a month after treatment, at which point it will have been fully metabolised by the body.
At this time, it will have stimulated natural collagen and elastin production, meaning that the effects of treatment will continue even after Profhilo has been naturally broken down.
After the initial treatments, a Profhilo treatment every six months should be sufficient to maintain the benefits.
