Christmas party anti-wrinkle treatments

We’ve all had one of those days when we’ve turned up to work with loo paper stuck to our shoe, smeared lipstick and our husband’s glasses on while cramming a Hobnob into our mouths because we ran out of time for breakfast…again.

But when it comes to the office Christmas party it’s our big chance to show our colleagues, and our boss, just how fabulous we can really look!

And wrinkles are most certainly not invited.

So now’s the time to book in your botox, dermal fillers, skin booster, PotenzaTM microneedling or light peel treatment ready for the festive season. Yes, right now! And here’s why…

How long does it take botox to work?

We’d recommend having your botox treatment at least two weeks before a big event, to allow us to review and, if necessary, top up your dose for optimum results.

Why?

Botox takes effect by blocking the signals which make your facial muscles contract, just a few hours after you’ve received the treatment.

Most patients notice some improvement after a few days; however it can take up to two weeks for the muscles around your wrinkles to fully relax and for you to start to reap the full rewards. The timescales vary because they are dependent upon your skin type and the nature of the wrinkles being treated (so your fine lines will disappear quicker than deep wrinkles).

Gently exercising the treated area by making facial expressions may speed up the results and give you the best outcome. However, don’t be tempted to rub your face after your injections or use any other facial treatments for 24 hours.

In fact, the benefits will continue to increase over the next couple of months as the skin gradually smooths out, now that the muscles have stopped forming the wrinkles.

We offer a free review after every botox treatment where our expert practitioners may include a free top up if they feel a greater improvement can still be achieved.

If you’re unsure when to have your treatment, we offer a free consultation to our all patients where one of our team will be able to advise you on the likely timescales for the full benefits to be revealed.

How long does botox last?

How long the effects of your botox treatment will last is dependent upon your skin type and the type of wrinkles treated, but generally you should assume that you’ll need a repeat treatment after around four months, as the botox is naturally broken down and flushed out by your body.

How long does it take dermal fillers to work?

Unlike botox, dermal fillers will give you immediate results, mostly with a single treatment, although we generally recommend a course of three treatments for maximum effect if you’re having our Restylane skin boosters. We suggest that you have dermal fillers at least two weeks before any important event, six weeks before if you’re planning a course of three treatments.

Why?

Dermal fillers inject hydration-boosting hyaluronic acid under the skin, which has both a plumping and moisturising effect. The treatment works immediately and often the practitioner can make any adjustments needed then and there. However, we do offer our dermal filler patients a review appointment two to three weeks after treatment to check everything has settled properly and that you’re completely happy with the results.

It is totally normal to feel a little red, bruised or swollen immediately after the treatment. We’d generally expect this to subside after a few days, but to be on the safe side allow a couple of weeks if you have a particularly important event coming up.

How long do dermal fillers last?

Our rejuvenating and hydrating Restylane skin boosters will generally continue to smooth out your skin for 6 to 12 months, whereas the thicker consistency of our Juvederm Voluma volumising fillers means that the benefits should last up to 18 months.

How long does it take skin boosters to work?

For a pre-party burst of hydration, our range of skin boosters are instantly revitalising for your skin, but the best part is, their benefits continue in the weeks following your treatment.

Dermal fillers and skin boosters are both made from moisture-boosting hyaluronic acid. However, there is a key difference in their benefits.

Dermal fillers are designed to stay in a single place, adding instant plumpness. Skin boosters work differently.

Their unique ingredients integrate with the skin to trigger your own, natural regenerative processes. You will start to see results of skin boosters seven to ten days after the first session, with the full effect apparent over several weeks.

Why?

Profhilo, Jalupro and Sunekos skin boosters all have specific properties – your practitioner will advise which one is best for your desired results.

The combination of ingredients in our range of skin boosters include hyaluronic acid and amino acids, which work on a cellular level in the skin.

This means that they continue to stimulate a prolonged, rejuvenating effect by encouraging production of collagen and elastin.

How long do skin boosters last?

Depending on your skin type and condition, the results of rejuvenating skin boosters can last for up to six months.

How long does it take Potenza™️ microneedling to work?

Potenza™️ radiofrequency microneedling is a new smoothing and lifting treatment now available at our Huntingdon clinic.

Combining ultra fine needles with heat, Potenza™️ microneedling penetrates and disrupts the top layer of skin to trigger natural regeneration.

The benefits of Potenza™️ microneedling include:

  • Lifting of sagging skin
  • Smoothing of fine lines
  • Evening out of skin texture
  • Improving acne scarring
  • Shrinking enlarged pores

Whilst there is an instant overall lifting and tightening, and improvement in skin texture, the restorative benefits continue in the skin for several weeks.

Why?

Potenza™️ microneedling stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, which give skin its youthful firmness and elasticity.

In the weeks following treatment, the benefits of this regeneration in the skin become more apparent.

How long does Potenza™️ microneedling last?

After your initial three treatments, given over a three month period, your results should last for a year. After that you’ll just need a single top up treatment every year to renew the benefits.

How long does it take the ‘Red Carpet Peel’ to work?

A light, gentle peel is the ideal way to refresh and brighten your skin.

Containing a blend of natural acids, the ZO Ossential Stimulator peel or ‘Red Carpet’ peel gently removes dead skin cells, revealing fresher, more youthful skin.

This peel exfoliates skin to instantly reveal a smoother and brighter complexion.

Why?

Because this peel is more superficial, it is an ideal treatment to prepare for a special event or, perhaps, Christmas party!

With this treatment, there is virtually no downtime, but it is best to allow a few days for any mild redness or irritation to resolve.

How long do the results of a peel last?

The benefits of lighter peels tend to last for 3-4 months.
