Botox

Botox is a safe and effective way to gently relax fine lines and wrinkles. We specialise in natural-looking results to smooth and rejuvenate your skin. People will know you look great … but they won’t know why!

Other signs of ageing can be managed using botox, such as taut neck muscles (platysma bands) or a downturned mouth.

You can also use botox to enhance your natural features. Perhaps to give your upper lip a fuller appearance (a “lip flip”) or for a subtle brow lift.

The benefits of Botox

Botox helps with a range of ageing and aesthetic issues, including:

  • Smooth fine lines
  • Reduce deeper wrinkles and folds
  • Wrinkle prevention
  • Fuller lips
  • Lift heavy brows
  • Relax protruding neck muscles
  • Upturn mouth corners
  • Lessen a “gummy smile”
  • Raise nose tip

Real patients, real results

From DF — Cambridgeshire:

Just wanted to say I’m chuffed to bits with my botox and filler results. So happy with how much my frown line has disappeared and how quickly the botox worked. By day three my lines had disappeared. So thank you.

Tee has rejuvenated this patient's skin with a combination of midface fillers to plump and lift her cheeks, botox to minimise her frown lines, and Jalupro for overall hydration and fine line reduction. 20 days after her treatment, the patient's skin looks significantly smoother and healthier.

FAQ

Botox

Who can have botox?

Botox is a popular choice for women and men of all ages. However, there are some cases when treatment may not be possible.

You need to be 18 years or older to have botox without consent from your parent/guardian.

If you are pregnant or breast feeding you should not have botox injections.

If you have an infection in the area to be injected, it is unlikely we will be able to treat you.

If you are on any medication, please ensure you disclose this to your practitioner prior to your treatment.

We reserve the right to refuse treatment when we feel it is medically unsafe or inappropriate for any other reason.

What areas can be treated?

Botox can only be used to treat wrinkles caused by muscles, so it’s primarily used for the forehead, crow’s feet and frown lines between the eyes (also known as “11s”). It’s occasionally used to reduce other wrinkles, such as “smokers’ lines” above the top lip.

It’s also used to relax the vertical muscles in the neck (the platysma bands) which can have an ageing effect if they become too taut.

In addition to rejuvenation procedures, botox can be used for facial enhancements, such as creating a fuller upper lip and lifting heavy eyebrows.

Your practitioner will advise whether botox would be the most effective choice for the area you wish to treat.

What happens at a botox appointment?

You’ll meet your practitioner and discuss the results you’re looking for. There’s plenty of time to ask questions, which can be particularly helpful if it’s your first visit.

If you and our practitioner are happy for the treatment to go ahead, then you will lie back on a couch while they administer the injections.

Your botox treatment will generally take around 10 minutes but please allow 20 to 30 minutes for your full appointment. Most people experience little or no pain from the injections.

You may have a little redness at the site of the injection, but this should go away within a few days.

Who will give you the botox injections?

At Melior Clinics you will only receive botox injections from a registered doctor or nurse who has been fully trained in using botox and is Save Face accredited.

What aftercare is needed?

You’ll receive full aftercare instructions during your appointment and your practitioner will be happy to answer any questions you have.

The botox treatment will start working after three to five days. It can take up to two weeks for the muscles to gradually relax and achieve the final results.

Once the botox has fully taken effect, we offer a free review and top-up appointment. We want to ensure that you are completely happy with the results of our work.

How does botox work?

Botox has a relaxing effect on muscles. When it’s used facially to reduce wrinkles, it blocks nerve signals to reduce the activity of the muscles which make facial expressions, allowing the skin to gradually smooth out.

How long does botox last?

The benefits of your botox treatment will usually last for between three and four months.

The natural process of the body constantly creating new neurotransmitters means that the effect of botox blocking nerve signals gradually reduces over time, as is shown in the graph below:

Botox regression graph

The length of time botox continues to work in the body differs from patient to patient. Factors such as metabolism and muscularity can influence the longevity of botox.

What brand of botox is used?

We currently use both Botox® and Azzulure®, your practitioner will select the most appropriate option for your requirements. Both Botox® and Azzulure® contain Botulinum Toxin Type A as the active ingredient.

Do you offer medical botox treatments?

Botox isn’t just about helping you look great, it can also deal with many significant medical issues.

At Melior Clinics we offer botox treatment to help with migraines, hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating), excessive blushing, Bell’s Palsy and an enlarged masseter jaw muscle.

What other treatments can you have with botox?

Botox is often used in conjunction with dermal fillers, Profhilo and other treatments to give an overall rejuvenating effect.

So, if we advise that botox won’t achieve the results you desire, we’re confident we have a treatment that will.

What our patients say

Thank you to our botox patients for these kind words

I had botox the other day with Tee in Peterborough – she is amazing! Wonderful experience and I will certainly return when I need to.

HB — Stamford

Tee – just wanted to say I’m chuffed to bits with my botox and filler results. So happy with how much my frown line has disappeared and how quickly the botox worked. By day three my lines had disappeared. So thank you.

DF — Cambridgeshire

I had botox somewhere else before and I was very unhappy with the results, so I would suggest that anybody considering having any treatment to go to Melior Clinics. It’s now been two weeks and four days later and I have had friends tell me how fresh I look and a few work colleagues who I have not told, said that I was looking really great and young!!!!

JH — Peterborough

Therese Ward recommended a personal treatment programme for me including botox.

I can genuinely say I am delighted with the results of the treatment – it’s made all the difference and my skin and smile really reflect who I am and how I feel.

ZM — Cambridgeshire

The Botox has taken its shape and the result is fab! Thank you.

MS — London
