Reviews for our Tear trough fillers treatment
What is tear trough filler treatment like?

Before your treatment
Your practitioner will carry out a detailed consultation to assess the under-eye area and discuss the results you’re looking for. This includes checking skin texture, volume loss, and pigmentation. Because the eye area is delicate, treatment is always done by our medically qualified professionals with a strong understanding of facial anatomy.
During your treatment
Tear trough filler is usually placed using a cannula to minimise bruising and reduce the risk of complications. The filler is gently injected into precise areas beneath the eyes to restore lost volume and reduce the appearance of dark circles or hollows. A numbing cream may be applied beforehand for comfort. The procedure usually takes around 30 minutes.
After your treatment
You may experience slight swelling or mild bruising, which typically settles within a few days. Results are visible straight away, with a fresher, more rested appearance becoming clearer as the area settles.

Tear trough fillers – your questions answered
What is the science behind tear trough filler?
Tear trough filler is used to treat hollows, dark circles, and under-eye shadows that can make you look tired or aged—even when you’re well rested.
These concerns often appear due to natural volume loss in the mid-face and changes in the fat pads under the eyes, which become more pronounced over time. Read more about how eye bags form, or how facial fat pads shift as we age.
The treatment involves carefully injecting hyaluronic acid-based dermal filler into the tear trough area. Hyaluronic acid is a substance naturally found in the skin, known for attracting water and restoring volume. By replacing lost volume under the eyes, the filler helps smooth the transition between the lower eyelid and cheek, reducing shadows and softening the appearance of tiredness. It may also stimulate collagen production, helping to gradually improve skin quality over time.
Clinical research supports its use in rejuvenating the under-eye area. A 2021 study published in the Journal of Cutaneous and Aesthetic Surgery outlines the safety and effectiveness of hyaluronic acid fillers for treating tear trough deformities. Further evidence on best practices can also be found in this systematic review on PubMed.

What fillers are used in tear trough treatment?
We use hyaluronic acid dermal fillers. As well as plumping your skin, hyaluronic acid will help the skin retain water, improving its texture and reducing the appearance of dark circles.
What happens during the tear trough treatment?
The filler is injected above the bone of the eye socket and gently massaged to blend it with your natural facial contours.
How long will the treatment take?
The treatment itself will take around 20 to 30 minutes. However, you should allow around 45 minutes for your appointment, as you will receive a consultation before the treatment goes ahead.
Do tear trough fillers hurt?
No, all our dermal filler injections include a local anaesthetic to minimise discomfort.
Is there any downtime after treatment?
No, though we will recommend a few precautions such as avoiding sunbeds and saunas for a period after treatment. You may experience a small amount of bruising, swelling or redness. Most of this will fade within a couple of days and be completely healed ten days after your treatment.
Can pregnant women have fillers?
No, women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not have dermal fillers. Before your treatment, your practitioner will take a full medical history, to check that fillers are a safe and appropriate treatment for you.
How long do tear trough fillers last?
Filler treatments will generally last between six and twelve months. We often find that patients who have dermal fillers over a number of years can go longer between treatments, as they have a cumulative effect.
Can I have botox with tear trough fillers?
Yes, in fact this is a great way to give your eyes a real boost. While dermal fillers pump and rehydrate your tear troughs, botox can be used to reduce your crow’s feet.
