The dermaroller (microsurgical needling) is a revolutionary skincare and rejuvenation device which has the ability to naturally stimulate collagen and elastin production in the skin. When rolled across the surface of the skin, the dermaroller’s micro needles puncture the dermis, which can stimulate the natural growth of collagen and elastin and promotes the appearance of smoother, tighter, healthier, younger looking skin.
A dermaroller is a precision-engineered medical instrument including 192 surgical steel micro-needles which, when rolled across the dermis, creates pin-point punctures. This is perceived by the body as damage, which can stimulate the release of growth factors that trigger the production of collagen and elastin.
Dermarollers are often used in combination with clinically-proven skin care products, which are chosen as the active ingredients within topical skin care products can work very well when allowed to reach below the surface of the skin. Dermaroller treatments allow for increased penetration and absorption of products, which can improve the skin’s overall texture, condition, complexion and luminosity.
As well as aiming to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, dermaroller treatments can be used to treat a range of skin care issues including sun damage, acne scarring, stretch marks and hyperpigmentation, as well as helping some patients with neglected, dull and congested skin and helping to restore collagen.
As a revolutionary skincare and rejuvenation device which in some patients has the ability to naturally stimulate collagen and elastin production in the skin without damaging it, Dermaroller creates the appearance of smoother, tighter, healthier and younger-looking skin and can be used to treat a variety of general skin management issues including:
Melior Clinics will generally recommend a course of 3 to 4 dermaroller treatment sessions which last approximately 40 minutes with a break of 4 to 6 weeks between treatments. This allows for new cell reproduction, collagen and elastin stimulation and general skin healing. Most patients can see noticeable results within one week of treatment.
The potential side effects of dermaroller treatments are minimal but may include post-treatment redness. This can be effectively camouflaged with mineral make up, available from Melior Clinics.
Upon completion of the dermaroller treatment, the skin may feel dry, tight and uncomfortable. However as part of your dermaroller package we provide an oxygenated moisturiser specifically formulated to nourish and soothe traumatised skin, together with an SPF 50+ moisturiser for use after treatment.
Dermaroller treatments are available at all Melior Clinics locations including Harley Street, Richmond, Huntingdon and Peterborough. Dermaroller devices can also be purchased direct from Melior Clinics for home treatment.
