Profhilo rejuvenating treatment

What is Profhilo?

Profhilo is a unique, injectable hyaluronic acid gel. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring chemical, which the body uses to retain water in the skin and support its plumping collagen and elastin.

Profhilo provides one of the highest concentrations of hyaluronic acid available on the market – so we’re delighted to be able to offer this to our Peterborough patients.

How Profhilo works

Profhilo has a prolonged, stimulating effect on the dermal cells. Delivered into the skin via a series of small injections, Profhilo stimulates the cell receptors to counteract slackness and improve and restore firmness. The result is skin that feels wonderfully hydrated, lifted and tightened.

How does Profhilo differ from Dermal Fillers?

Whilst dermal Fillers and Profhilo are both made from moisture-boosting hyaluronic acid, they perform different functions in the skin.

Dermal Fillers are designed to stay in a single place, adding instant plumpness to sagging skin.

Profhilo works differently. It integrates with the skin to trigger your own, natural, anti-ageing processes. In addition, Profhilo does not contain synthetic additives, such as BDDE (1,4-Butanediol diglycidyl ether), which minimises the risk of side effects.

Both treatments have different, but equally impressive, benefits.

About Profhilo treatment

Free consultation

Prior to your treatment you will receive a free consultation with Tee in Peterborough. She will discuss what you hope to achieve from the treatment, to ensure that Profhilo is right for you.

Tee will also ask you questions about your medical history, to check that the treatment is appropriate and safe for you.

During your treatment

When you’re ready to go ahead, the treatment itself will be as quick as 10 minutes, depending on the number of areas to be treated.

Tee will make a series of small injections to administer the treatment. Facial Profhilo, for example, requires only five injections at strategic points around the face.

There may be a slight stinging feeling as the Profhilo is injected, but this only lasts a few seconds.

Patients new to Profhilo will require two treatments, four weeks apart, for the best results. Depending on your skin type, a third treatment may be recommended, usually eight weeks after your second one.

After your treatment

You’ll be able to go about your normal life immediately after treatment. You’ll be provided with full aftercare instructions.

You may feel an immediate improvement thanks to the hydrating effect, but, as Profhilo encourages your body to produce its own anti-ageing collagen and elastin, it can take a few weeks before you start to notice the full results of your treatment.

After a month you can expect your skin to feel smoother, softer, tighter and plumper. At this point you will need a second treatment to fully stimulate the collagen and elastin production for optimal results.

How long with Profhilo last?

Profhilo continues to work in your skin for around a month after your treatment, at which point it will have been fully metabolised by your body. By this time, it will have stimulated your natural collagen and elastin production, meaning that the rejuvenating effects of your treatment will continue even after Profhilo has been naturally broken down.

After your initial treatments, a Profhilo treatment every six months should be sufficient to maintain the benefits.

Who can have Profhilo?

Profhilo is suitable for most people who want to improve the effects of skin ageing.

As with any injectable treatment, we won’t be able to treat you if you are pregnant or breast feeding. If you have any other medical condition or are taking any medications, please make us aware of this.

Profhilo in conjunction with other treatments

Profhilo can be used alongside many of our other treatments in Peterborough, to further enhance the rejuvenating benefits.

For example, Profhilo is a perfect partner for botox treatments. While botox combats wrinkles caused by particular muscles, Profhilo gives an overall radiance, complimenting the botox.
