Laser Facial Rejuvenation Treatment Huntingdon

At our Huntingdon Clinic, our cosmetic doctors use laser technology to help restore the skin’s youthful appearance.

Through a process called photo-rejuvenation, our advanced laser technology can be used to address the signs of ageing in the skin, such as sun damage, fine lines and wrinkles, as well as skin laxity.

Laser light is delivered to the skin according to the patient’s skin type. The light energy then penetrates the affected tissue. The body’s natural healing processes remove the injured tissue to give the skin a renewed, more even, luminous and rejuvenated appearance.

What is laser facial rejuvenation like?

Woman getting laser on her face

Before your treatment

Your practitioner will explain the procedure and agree the areas you would like to target. They’ll then smooth a cooling gel or lotion onto your skin.

You’ll be asked to wear protective glasses throughout the treatment to shield your eyes from the laser light.

During your treatment

When you’re comfortable and ready to begin, your practitioner will apply the laser light to your skin. The laser device emits pulses of light which can feel warm, tingly or like an elastic band snap on your skin. You’ll also hear the laser machine clicking with each pulse.

Some people are more sensitive to the sensation than others, so if you feel any discomfort please make your practitioner aware.

After your treatment

Your treatment will take up to an hour, depending on the area to be treated.

When the treatment is finished, your practitioner will wipe away any excess cooling gel and explain the aftercare guidance.

FAQs

How does laser facial rejuvenation work?

The energy from the laser light heats the affected skin tissue, which encourages the body’s natural skin renewal processes, and the production of collagen.

The result is regenerated, youthful skin.

What is the science behind laser facial rejuvenation?

Lasers emit focused beams of light that are precisely controlled to interact with specific structures in the skin. Lasers penetrate the skin without damaging the surface.

When a laser interacts with the skin, it generates heat, which triggers the body’s natural wound-healing response. This leads to increased collagen production and improved skin texture.

Further reading about laser facial rejuvenation:

What type of ageing can laser treatment help with?

Laser rejuvenation can smooth out fine lines and wrinkles (including smokers’ lines), tighten sagging skin, reduce sun damage, and improve your overall skin texture.

Does laser facial rejuvenation treatment hurt?

A topical anaesthetic is administered to ensure the treatment is as comfortable as possible.

What are the side-effects of laser facial rejuvenation?

Your skin is likely to be slightly red and swollen for the first few days after the treatment, similar to mild sunburn. This should resolve within a week.

How long do the results last?

The effects of laser facial rejuvenation aren’t permanent, as fine lines and wrinkles will naturally reappear over time.

However, the rejuvenating results last for up to a year, when treatment can be repeated to maintain the results.

How long does the treatment take?

Treatment takes 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the area being treated.
