Laser Thread Vein Removal Treatment

Thread veins, or telangiectasia, are small, dilated venules (tiny blood vessels) near the surface of the skin.

They are so called as they cause threadlike red lines or patterns on the skin. These patterns, or telangiectasis, form gradually and often appear in clusters. Thread veins are sometimes known as red veins or spider veins due to their weblike appearance.

Laser therapy is a highly effective treatment used to eliminate thread veins.

Our Laser Thread Vein Removal Clinics:

This gentle treatment uses focused light energy to target the veins. The laser light is absorbed by the red blood cells and converted into heat energy. Your blood then coagulates and the vessel walls of your thread vein collapse.

Reviews for our Laser thread vein removal treatment

Dan is fantastic at what he does, so technically knowledgeable and professional. With his wonderful personality, he really has made me feel at ease every step of the way. The treatment has been life changing, it has boosted my confidence so much. I’m now confident to wear shorts and dresses without having to apply camouflage makeup to my legs first. I cannot fully explain how liberating it feels to just put on a pair of shorts or a dress now and go. The difference it’s made to my life is amazing.”

What is laser thread vein removal treatment like?

Women getting laser thread vein removal

During the treatment, you’ll be asked to wear protective glasses to shield your eyes from the laser light. Your practitioner will apply a cooling gel or lotion to the skin, which helps soothe the area and improve comfort during the procedure.

The laser is then passed over the thread veins, delivering brief pulses of light. You may feel a warm or slightly tingling sensation as the laser works, and there might be a mild snapping or clicking sound from the machine.

Treatment usually takes around 15 to 30 minutes depending on the size of the area being treated.

FAQs

What are thread veins?

Thread veins, or telangiectasia, are small, dilated blood vessels near the surface of the skin. They are so called as they cause threadlike red lines on the skin. Thread veins are common on the face, particularly on the nose and cheeks, and on the legs. They are usually caused by age, trauma, sun exposure or alcohol.

How does laser thread vein removal work?

The laser light is absorbed by the red blood cells and converted into heat energy.

The blood then coagulates, causing the vessel walls of your thread vein to collapse. Once broken down, the vein is absorbed by the body.

What is the science behind laser thread vein removal?

Laser thread vein removal uses “selective photothermolysis” to target microscopic areas of tissue with laser light.

Selective photothermolysis was developed in the 1980s when researchers discovered that they could conduct very precise microsurgery using light to break down unwanted cells or pigments.

As well as being an effective way to remove thread veins, this technology is also used in laser hair removal, tattoo removal and hyperpigmentation. Studies are also assessing its use in managing acne (read an example of this research into laser treatment for acne).
