Cosmelan depigmentation peel
Cosmelan is the leading depigmentation treatment to address dark spots and areas of pigmentation with efficacy and safety.
The Cosmelan method involves the highly effective combination of one in-clinic treatment, and a simple regime to follow at home.
The Cosmelan method is a unique combination of active ingredients that are proven to resolve pigmentation issues in both the short and long-term.
Like a conventional peel, the Cosmelan method visibly removes and reduces dark spots, but most importantly, it also regulates and corrects the overproduction of melanin to prevent reappearance of darks spots and areas of pigmentation.

FAQ
Cosmelan
How does the Cosmelan method work?
The Cosmelan method corrects and regulates overproduction of melanin, therefore reducing and controlling the appearance of existing and new dark spots and pigmentation.
The Cosmelan peel addresses pigmentation in the short term, whilst the specialised Cosmelan creams and balms, that are applied by the client at home, ensure that it’s controlled in the long term.
What does the Cosmelan method involve?
Prior to application of the Cosmelan peel, there is a one month, at-home skincare protocol, which prepares your skin. The relevant products are supplied following your initial consultation.
Once your skin is prepared, the treatment consists of one in-clinic peel application, followed by home maintenance, which may be continued for up to 12 months.
The Cosmelan method consists of 4 phases:
Phase 1: intense depigmentation
Following your initial consultation and one month’s at-home skin preparation, the Cosmelan peel mask is applied during a single session in our clinic. The mask is left on for a period of 8 hours to achieve the intense depigmentation. This treatment removes the problem areas of melanin deposits in the skin and encourages skin renewal.
Phases 2, 3 and 4: depigmentation, regulation, and control
Following the initial treatment, your practitioner will guide you through a regime that you’ll undertake at home for the following month (this regime can be extended for up to 11 months if needed, depending on your specific skin concerns). This involves applying specific Cosmelan cream products to continue and augment the depigmentation process. Importantly, the at-home regime helps to prevent reappearance of the pigmentation.
The at-home regime includes:
- Cosmelan 2: facial cream for reducing dark spots and pigmentation
- Melan recovery: a calming and healing balm
- Melan 130 pigment control: cream with very high solar protection and colour.
Skin shedding will begin approximately 48 hours following the in-clinic peel application. The at-home skincare regime should start seven days after the peel treatment. The specific application protocol for the at-home regime will be prescribed at your review appointment.
Why is the Cosmelan at-home regime important?
The at-home regime prevents continued over-production of melanin in the skin. It is important that you follow the regime for the recommended length of time to prevent pigmentation from returning.
When will I see results?
Results can be seen within the initial weeks following the in-clinic treatment, they continue to improve with the full result being apparent between 30 and 60 days afterwards.
What are the Cosmelan peel side effects?
Peeling, along with a little redness and irritation can be expected initially. This will resolve as your skin heals. Melan recovery cream will help the skin to recover and reduce the peeling and irritation.
Is the Cosmelan method only for the face?
Cosmelan is also suitable for the body and can be used on the back, shoulders, arms, décolletage and hands.
Are there any skincare products that should be avoided during the at-home regime?
Products containing Vitamin C or retinols should be avoided during the early months of the at-home regime. Your practitioner will ensure you have full guidance about looking after your skin to achieve the best results.
Can Cosmelan be combined with any other treatments?
You should avoid other treatments during the Cosmelan method.
