Scar fillers
Dermal fillers can be an effective way to minimise the appearance of atrophic scars.
Fillers are expertly injected into the base of the scar, pushing it up to make it more flush with the skin. The injections may also help to break up scar tissue and improve the overall texture of the affected area.

Reviews for our Scar fillers treatment
What is scar filler treatment like?

Before your treatment
Your practitioner will carry out a detailed consultation to assess the scar and surrounding area. They’ll discuss your treatment goals and determine whether dermal filler is the right option, depending on the type, size and location of the scar.
During your treatment
A small amount of dermal filler is carefully injected beneath the scar using a needle or cannula. This helps to lift indented or atrophic scars so they sit more level with the surrounding skin. The treatment usually takes around 30 minutes and may involve the use of numbing cream to minimise discomfort.
After your treatment
You may notice mild swelling, redness, or bruising around the injection site, but this usually settles within a few days. Results are visible almost immediately, with smoother, more even-looking skin in the treated area. Depending on the type of filler used, results typically last several months.

Scar filler – your questions answered
What is the science behind scar fillers?
Scar fillers work by lifting indented or atrophic scars so they sit more evenly with the surrounding skin.
Most fillers used for scars contain hyaluronic acid—a substance naturally found in the body that helps restore volume and support the skin’s structure. By filling in the area beneath the scar, dermal fillers can soften its appearance, improve texture, and create a smoother, more even surface.
Research supports the use of fillers for treating various types of scarring, including acne and trauma-related scars. A 2023 review noted that 67% of patients treated with fillers saw improvement in the appearance of their scars, while another study cited in the same review found measurable improvements in scar grading scores.

What type of fillers are used to fill scars?
Your practitioner will use a hyaluronic acid filler. This is a substance which occurs naturally in the skin, helping it to retain moisture. We have a range of high quality filler brands to choose from and will select the most appropriate for your treatment and skin type.
Can this be used on all types of scar?
Fillers can improve the appearance of most atrophic scars, where the skin has become indented. Unfortunately, fillers will not help with raised, keloid scars, or flat scars.
If you’re unsure whether fillers would be suitable for your scar, please arrange a free consultation with one of our experts, who will advise you on the best course of treatment.
Will I still be able to see the scar?
Probably, yes. While fillers will ‘push up’ the base of the scar and make it more flush with the surface of your skin, you will still be able to see where the scar is. However, the treatment can often make a dramatic improvement to the appearance of the scar, so it should become much less noticeable.
Do scar filler injections hurt?
No, we include a local anaesthetic with all our filler injections to minimise discomfort.
How long does the scar filler treatment take?
The treatment itself will take 20 to 30 minutes. But you should allow up to 45 minutes for the appointment as it includes a full consultation prior to treatment.
How long do the results last?
You should continue to benefit from the improvements for six to twelve months. Generally speaking, the more you repeat filler treatments the longer they last.
If you continue your treatment long term, this can help to break up the scar tissue. Combined with the hydrating and collagen-boosting effects of hyaluronic acid, this can permanently improve the appearance of your scar.
So, while we won’t be able to take your scar away, you should find that over time the improved appearance is maintained with less filler and fewer treatments.
What other treatments can be used to improve scarring?
Depending on the type and location of your scar, you could benefit from laser treatment, chemical facial peels (such as the ZO 3 Step Peel), fractional mesotherapy,CACI and microneedling.
