Advanced treatments for facial ageing

Facial ageing is a complex process. It’s influenced by factors such as our genetics and our response to hormonal changes, alongside external factors such as sun damage, pollution and our lifestyle choices.

The latest research focuses on understanding the mechanisms of skin ageing, to assist in the development of advanced treatments to address its signs and symptoms.

At Melior Clinics, we are committed to embracing new, innovative skin rejuvenation treatments. We give you a breadth of choice about how we approach your skin aspirations.

Here, we explain these pioneering, medically-focused treatments for facial ageing, and how they can work alongside traditional aesthetic treatments for enhanced, long-lasting results.

Microneedling treatments

Microneedling continues to be praised for its ability to stimulate skin repair and collagen production. A recent publication emphasises its efficacy in both skin rejuvenation, and treating specific skin conditions such as acne and hyperpigmentation.

Microneedlng treatments use fine needles to create micro-injuries in the skin. This action stimulates collagen production and the skin’s repair processes, which in turn improves skin texture and firmness.

Potenza™️ radiofrequency microneedling

Microneedling treatment can be enhanced with radiofrequency energy. This has the effect of heating the deeper layers of the skin to further promote collagen synthesis and skin tightening.

Using ultra fine needles combined with heat, Potenza™️ radiofrequency microneedling penetrates and disrupts the top layer of skin.

This action tiggers the body’s natural regeneration process by stimulating the production of both collagen and elastin to restore firmness and elasticity, as well as smooth the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Before and after Potenza™️ microneedling

After one treatment, this patient’s skin is much smoother, her enlarged pores are reduced and her skin tone is more even.

Dermapen 4

Microneedling with Dermapen 4 is a well-known approach for treating acne scarring and stretch marks, it is also very effective for minimising open pores, smoothing fine lines and wrinkles, and improving the overall texture of the skin.

The Dermapen 4 device delivers up to 1,300 micro punctures per second into the skin. By creating trauma at this micro level, the skin is stimulated to heal itself, producing new tissue and promoting collagen and elastin production.

In addition, treatment with Demapen 4 includes application of serums, such as hyaluronic acid, vitamins and antioxidants, which nourish and hydrate the skin. These serums are easily absorbed via the microchannels that the device has created.

Polynucleotides (PN treatment)

Polynucleotides are a recognised, pioneering anti-ageing treatment. They are known for their ability to stimulate cell regeneration and repair damaged skin.

PN treatment delivers molecules called nucleotides directly into the skin. Polynucleotides are chains of these molecules that form the structure of DNA.

Polynucleotides stimulate dermal cells called fibroblasts to produce collagen fibres. This activity promotes the skin’s natural ability to repair damaged tissue.

When injected into the skin via a skin booster solution, polynucleotides enhance hydration, improve elasticity, and promote collagen production, resulting in smoother and more youthful-looking skin.

Polynucleotides treatment offers long-term rejuvenation. You will start to see the benefits around 7-10 days following treatment, and results last for up to 12 months.

There’s no better time to try this revolutionary anti-ageing approach, with our special offer on a course of 3 polynucleotides treatments

HydraFacial

Hydrafacial is an innovative, non-invasive treatment, which combines the actions of cleansing, exfoliation, purification, hydration, and antioxidant protection in one gentle procedure.

Using a patented wand device, Hydrafacial delivers serums and nutrients to the skin while removing dead skin cells and impurities. This treatment is known for its ability to improve skin hydration and overall texture, making it a popular choice for patients seeking a quick and effective anti-ageing treatment.

The Hydrafacial wand acts as a vacuum to open pores for a deep cleanse, and to extract impurities gently and efficiently. The wand also enables active ingredients in the Hydrafacial boosters to penetrate deep into the skin. LED light stimulates collagen, whilst reducing inflammation.

JetPeel

JetPeel technology has been adapted from the aviation industry to create a pioneering, non-invasive aesthetic treatment. The JetPeel device produces pressurised air, which is delivered at a high speed of 200 metres per second.

Fine liquid jet streams are applied to the skin with a specialised wand. As the wand travels over the skin, the jet streams provide a lymphatic massage followed by exfoliation of the epidermis.

The action of the jet streams gently stretches the skin surface to open microchannels. This allows infusion of nutrients and hydration to improve skin texture, tone, and overall appearance.

This treatment can address various skin concerns, including wrinkles, pigmentation, and acne scars. It is now available at our Huntingdon clinic.

Working in harmony with traditional aesthetic treatments

Injectable treatments such as botox and dermal fillers remain popular and highly effective for addressing facial ageing.

Botox works by temporarily reducing the muscle activity that causes dynamic wrinkles, such as frown lines and crow’s feet. The result is smoother skin and a more youthful appearance.

Before and after botox treatment

This patient came to Tee for 3 areas of botox/antiwrinkle treatment: forehead lines (frontalis), frown lines (glabella) and crow’s feet (orbicularis oculi). Four weeks after treatment her dynamic lines (which show when you make an expression) have smoothed, yet the results retain a natural look.

Using a gel-like form of hyaluronic acid , dermal fillers restore lost volume, enhance facial contours, and fill in static wrinkles.

Before and after dermal fillers

For this patient we used 2.5ml of Juvederm Voluma to restore her depleted cheek volume, re-plumping and giving her a less tired appearance.

Depending on your skin type and your facial rejuvenation goals, your practitioner may recommend a combination of treatments to achieve the best possible outcome for you.

Skin care products with active ingredients

Topical antioxidants, such as vitamin C and E, and retinoids (vitamin A derivatives) are widely used in anti-ageing skin care regimes.

Antioxidants protect the skin from free radical damage, while retinoids help to stimulate cell turnover and collagen production.

Obagi - Retinol retexturizing cream

These ingredients are proven to improve skin tone, texture, and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

At Melior Clinics, we are a proud distributor of market leading cosmeceutical skincare products, which bring pharmaceutical grade benefits to the skin. Our dermatologist can recommend products to combat facial ageing.

We offer brands such as ZO Skin Health, Obagi and Fusion Meso, products that are rich in nourishing ingredients such as Vitamin C and Retinol.
