Peels
Peels have a long history as a trusted aesthetic treatment, known for their exfoliating benefits and for giving skin a firmer, smoother and refreshed appearance.
Peel treatments work through the application of specially formulated natural acids to the skin. These deeply exfoliate to encourage skin renewal, achieving a rejuvenated appearance and improved texture.
Peels are highly effective in treating many skin issues including pigmentation, the signs of ageing, blocked pores and acne scarring.
We offer a range of peels, of varying depths, to address your specific skin concerns. We can help you achieve a brighter complexion for a special occasion, improve your skin texture, or give you a permanent reduction in pigmentation.

Reviews for our Peels treatment
What is a peel treatment like?

You’ll receive an initial consultation to discuss your skin concerns. Once you, and our practitioner, are happy to proceed, you’ll like back on the couch and your practitioner will gently apply the appropriate peel solution, using a brush or sponge.
The treated skin will become white and you may feel a slight stinging sensation during treatment, but only for a few minutes.
Once the peel has done its work, your practitioner will wash the solution from your skin. Your practitioner will advise you about the best peel treatment for the area of the skin you would like to improve, and the skin concerns you would like to address.

Peels – your questions answered
How do peels work?
A professional peel involves specially formulated natural acids (such as salicylic acid) being applied to the skin. These deeply exfoliate the skin to significantly improve skin texture and give a rejuvenated appearance.
What is the science behind peels?
Chemical peels work through the application of an acid solution to the skin. The natural acids used include glycolic, lactic, salicylic, or TCA. This causes controlled injury to the epidermis.
The solution exfoliates the top layers of skin to remove dead and damaged skin cells.
This controlled injury stimulates the skin’s natural regenerative processes, leading to the production of new skin cells and collagen.

What should I expect during treatment?
Your practitioner will use a brush or sponge to apply the peel solution. The treated skin begins to whiten and there can be a mild stinging sensation, which passes after a few minutes.
A wash is then used to remove the solution from the skin.
What do peels treat?
Peels deeply exfoliate your skin and can stimulate long-term improvements in skin health. Peels can treat a variety of skin concerns, and can be used to:
- Smooth fine lines and deeper wrinkles
- Improve oily or dry skin conditions
- Even out skin tone
- Improve skin texture
- Reduce acne and acne scarring
- Lessen sun damage
- Correct hyperpigmentation
- Stimulate collagen production
- Hydrate, brighten and rejuvenate the skin.
Can peels help with scarring?
Peels are very effective in improving the appearance of mild scarring – the renewed skin is smoother and more even in appearance. Peels are particularly helpful in treating acne scarring.
What types of peel are available?
Our range of peels can brighten and rejuvenate your skin, as well as address specific skin issues such as pigmentation, sun damage, the signs of ageing including fine lines and wrinkles, blocked pores, acne and acne scarring.
Peels are most commonly used to exfoliate and rejuvenate facial skin, but some peels can also be used to treat the skin on the chest, hands, shoulders and back.
We offer four different peel treatments:

- Obagi Blue Peel Radiance – a medium-depth peel for firmer, smoother skin.

How can I find out which peel is right for me?
Your practitioner will recommend which type of peel is best for your specific skin type and the specific concerns you want to address.
How long should a peel treatment take?
Depending on the peel, the treatment can last from 30 to 90 minutes.
How quickly will I see results?
After around 7 to 14 days, you’ll see the formation of healthy, new skin.
How long do the results of a peel last?
This will depend on the specific skin concerns that you would like to address, along with the peel treatment that is chosen.
Your practitioner will advise about the duration of results and the need for any further treatment.
In general, results tend to last three to four months.
Can I have a peel in conjunction with other treatments?
Your practitioner will recommend the best treatment plan and approach for your desired outcome – this will include the order in which treatment should be undertaken if several different procedures are required.
Does peel treatment hurt?
Superficial peels may sting, prickle or feel hot for a few minutes, but are not usually painful.
Medium peels do feel hot, but a cool fan can help to manage this and it only lasts for around 20 minutes.
Deep peels are more uncomfortable because of the nature of their more penetrative action. They will require medication to help manage any pain, both during and after treatment. Patients often opt to have deeper peels in autumn or winter when they are likely to cover up more and there is less intense sunlight to irritate the renewing skin.
Will I be sore after my peel treatment?
Except for very light peels, which require no downtime, after most peels, skin will be red, tight, and slightly irritated for a short period.
The deeper the peel, the longer the time to full recovery. Over-the-counter pain relief can be used to manage any discomfort.
What are the side-effects of peels?
As with any treatment, there are possible risks with peels, these include:
- Redness, scabbing and swelling – normal healing from a peel involves redness of the treated skin. After a medium or deep peel, redness might last for a few weeks.
- Darkening (hyperpigmentation) or lightening (hypopigmentation) of the skin – this can be permanent and is more common with darker skin.
- Cold sores can return in patients who’ve had them previously.
- Scarring or an infection – this is very rare.
Your practitioner will give you advice about how to reduce your risk of getting side-effects and complications.
