Botox
Botox is a safe and effective way to gently relax fine lines and wrinkles.
We specialise in natural-looking results to smooth and rejuvenate your skin. People will know you look great … but they won’t know why!
Other signs of ageing can be managed using botox, such as taut neck muscles (platysma bands) or a downturned mouth. You can also use botox to enhance your natural features. Perhaps to give your upper lip a fuller appearance (a “lip flip”) or for a subtle brow lift

Reviews for our Botox treatment
What is botox treatment like?

Consultation
You’ll begin by meeting your practitioner to discuss your concerns and the results you’d like to achieve. There’s plenty of time to ask questions, which can be especially reassuring if it’s your first time having treatment.
Treatment plan
Once you and your practitioner agree to go ahead, they’ll explain the areas to be treated and what to expect. Your comfort and confidence are always prioritised.
During treatment
You’ll lie back on a treatment couch while the botox is administered through a series of small injections. The treatment itself usually takes around 10 minutes.
Appointment time
Although the injections are quick, we recommend allowing 20 to 30 minutes for your full appointment to ensure there’s time for discussion and aftercare advice.
Aftercare
Most people feel minimal discomfort during treatment. You may notice some redness or small bumps at the injection sites, but these usually disappear within a few hours to a few days

Botox – your questions answered
What is the science behind botox?
Botox is a neurotoxin derived from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. It works by temporarily blocking nerve signals that cause muscles to contract. By reducing muscle activity, botox helps prevent wrinkles from forming, particularly in areas where repeated facial movements, such as frowning or squinting, contribute to lines.
Studies show that botox is a safe treatment when administered by a trained healthcare professional using a properly licensed product in a clinical setting. The effects are not permanent, typically lasting between three and four months. Over time, the body naturally metabolises the botox, and muscle activity gradually returns.

Who can have botox?
Botox is a popular choice for women and men of all ages. However, there are some cases when treatment may not be possible.
You need to be 18 years or older to have botox without consent from your parent/guardian.
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding you should not have botox injections.
If you have an infection in the area to be injected, it is unlikely we will be able to treat you.
If you are on any medication, please ensure you disclose this to your practitioner prior to your treatment.
We reserve the right to refuse treatment when we feel it is medically unsafe or inappropriate for any other reason.
What areas can be treated?
Botox can only be used to treat wrinkles caused by muscles, so it’s primarily used for the forehead, crow’s feet and frown lines between the eyes (also known as “11s”). It’s occasionally used to reduce other wrinkles, such as “smokers’ lines” above the top lip.
It’s also used to relax the vertical muscles in the neck (the platysma bands) which can have an ageing effect if they become too taut.
In addition to rejuvenation procedures, botox can be used for facial enhancements, such as creating a fuller upper lip and lifting heavy eyebrows.
Younger people use botox as a preventative measure to stop wrinkles ever forming.
Your practitioner will advise whether botox would be the most effective choice for the area you wish to treat.

Who will give you the botox injections?
At Melior Clinics you will only receive botox injections from a registered doctor or nurse who has been fully trained in using botox and is Save Face accredited.
How does botox work?
Botox has a relaxing effect on muscles. When it’s used facially to reduce wrinkles, it blocks nerve signals to reduce the activity of the muscles which make facial expressions, allowing the skin to gradually smooth out.
You can choose to completely stop the muscle activity to prevent any wrinkles forming, or opt for baby botox which has a reduced effect to maintain much of your facial muscle movement.
How long does botox last?
The benefits of your botox treatment will usually last for between three and four months.
The natural process of the body constantly creating new neurotransmitters means that the effect of botox blocking nerve signals gradually reduces over time.
The length of time botox continues to work in the body differs from patient to patient. Factors such as metabolism and muscularity can influence the longevity of botox.
What brand of botox is used?
We currently use both Botox® and Azzulure®, your practitioner will select the most appropriate option for your requirements. Both Botox® and Azzulure® contain Botulinum Toxin Type A as the active ingredient.

Do you offer medical botox treatments?
Botox isn’t just about helping you look great, it can also deal with many significant medical issues.
At Melior Clinics we offer botox treatment to help with migraines, hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating), TMJ disorder, excessive blushing, Bell’s Palsy and an enlarged masseter jaw muscle.
What other treatments can you have botox with?
Botox is often used in conjunction with dermal fillers, skin boosters and other treatments to give an overall rejuvenating effect.
So, if we advise that botox won’t achieve the results you desire, we’re confident we have a treatment that will.
